An Aqua and White Autumn Tablescape

Aqua is one of my favorite colors. When Kathleen called for the "white" challenge,  I knew I would be using aqua as my second color.  It was hard to come up with white only plates without any trim color . I stared wistfully at my Lenox Golden Wreath china,  and longingly at my Syracuse Gold Riviera china, then my eyes fell lovingly on my Noritake Christmas Ball china but none would do. So many whites but none without trim, except my Gibson Orchard china. The orchard china is my workhorse china.  It's the only set that I have enough of for the holidays (16+ place settings). But there it was plain and unadorned except for the embossed fruit.  I thought to myself,  go for it.  Plain but so serviceable.  Always there when it's needed. good old plain Jane Gibson.

I scrounged through my tablecloths and found an aqua beauty made by Lenox. The label says American by Design (and made in China). It looks like silk but it is polyester.  I bought it marked down to $12.00 at Marshall's (or maybe Tuesday Morning) a while back. The napkins are from the VOA for 39 cents each and almost a perfect match in color to the tablecloth.
The white flatware is Argent from a Tuesday Morning sidewalk sale. The owls are pretty much all from Goodwill and garage sales.  Don't you just love white owls in the fall?  The white porcelain fruit was bought at Goodwill in Akron, Ohio two years ago when I went on my annual birthday china buying spree.

The aqua wine glasses and water glasses are from Marc's our local closeout store for 99 cents each.  The little aqua votive holders as well as the aqua owls came from Marc's too.

There are a lot of other thrift store finds on the table,  like the white embossed pear salad plates,  The pitcher, pretty much,  if it's white,  it's thrifted.

My brother Don made this lovely stained glass window sun catcher for our mother many years ago.
Isn't it lovely?  My brother does wonderful work with stained glass.  He had made me one made of beautiful red roses.  I hang it in the dining room window during the winter.  It looks so pretty with all of the white snow in the background behind it.

  1. You have met the challenge with the beautiful white and aqua colors. I also love owls and your lovely collection of owls in white on the table and the aqua one on the buffet are the perfect touch. My tablescape this week has white owls used for the white challenge! Your workhorse white china with the orchard embossing is wonderful for fall for it has all the fruits of harvest time. I especially enjoyed viewing the stained glass by your brother for the bird in the blue background is gorgeous! Have a happy fall week!

  8. Every thing is fabulous - I love the white with just one color. I've seen so many pretty combinations though I doubt that I have any one color that I could use to make a whole table setting of white and one color. I have lots of white though.
