If you are a person of a certain age such as I am you will remember watching Jack Benny in the comedy New Year's Eve movie "The Horn Blows at Midnight". My brothers and I were allowed to stay up late and watch this movie each New Years Eve (and sometimes "The Canterbury Ghost"). We would cheer on Jack Benny at the end of the movie as he hung off of the hands of the clock with the coffee and the cream pouring on the elaborate clock face. You will have to watch the movie if you want to know if Mr. Benny does indeed get to play the horn at midnight.
When I found A set of napkin rings with a jazz musician playing the saxophone last summer, I knew they would be used in a New Years tablescape. The horn napkins (Vera) were thrifted at the Salvation Army several years ago.
The Horn Blows at Midnight New Years Tablescape.
Now I call that a napkin ring with personality!
Mirror tiles were bought from Marc's last winter, clear stemware is from Goodwill, Red flutes were bought at Home Goods with the gift card from Kathleen from her giveaway last Christmas. Chargers were from Home Goods a year or two ago, Silver diamond pattern dinnerware was my Christmas present from my Sweet Hubby (I picked them out of course). The flatware is Yamazaki's Holiday Bouquet pattern.
You may be wondering why there is a lobster on the table. Well this particular lobster is called Lucky Louie. He once decorated my favorite majolica serving dish. Well the dish and Louie separated ways when Cheetah my boy cat went and jumped up onto the kitchen island one day last summer. It would be fair to say it was not a good landing.... the serving dish went flying and shattered on the floor. However, Lucky Louis was unscathed by his adventure of flying through the air for what I would call a good landing!

Plum Creek Place Looks Back At 2014 - Year in Review
It is time to look back at the events of 2014 and reflect upon what was good and what was not good. The good things are easy. I had fun creating the tablescapes that I had dreamed about for years. This year has been like fulfilling a fantasy for me. I had so many ideas that I wanted to create as tablescapes and it was fun seeing those ideas come to life.

A Gingerbread Christmas
12-31-14
Throughout Christmas week the breakfast table has been peopled with gingerbread men and friends. The table changed day to day with different plates, glasses, and silverware, but the theme throughout the week was gingerbread men. Everything used for the gingerbread tables was thrifted except the flatware.
This is a selection of pictures as the gingerbread tables evolved:
We changed out the plates and table cloth at some time during the week.
We changed out the plates to a gingerbread house pattern a couple of days ago.
All of the nutcrackers have gone into formation on the dining room windowsill to stand guard for New Years Eve in case things get out of hand after the champagne.
Enjoy Your New Years Celebration - Stay warm and safe - Happy New Year Y'all!!!
