There are 24 days till Christmas - Diary of a Christmas Countdown
December 1st, 2013
Let it snow...........
Last winter we were planning a trip to Florida to visit friends of my husband. We started getting e-mails from them around Christmas. All the e-mail would say is "Toes". There would be a picture of the beach with the ocean waves rolling in, and two bare feet with the toes covered in sand (taken form the perspective of the person taking the picture was looking at his own feet propped up on a beach chair with the beach and ocean in the background). We have some snow on the ground now but I want a lot of snow so I can go out and sit on a beach chair in the yard and take a picture of my toes covered in snow with the snow covered trees and pond in my backyard as the background (with a fresh pedi and a toe ring on of course). The only thing I would put on my e-mail would be "Let it Snow".
On December 17th, 2013 this picture was taken and sent to the culprit mentioned above( plus several other friends and relatives.... Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!
Let it Snow (lyrics by Sammy Cahn, Jule Style, 1945)
Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we have no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let it snow, let it snow.
When we finally say goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm,
But if you really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.
The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bye-ing,
But as long as you love me so,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
.Let it snow, Let snow, Let it snow.
Salad plates are the the Debbie Mumm Snowflake pattern from Sakura. Goodwill auction.
The dinner plate is also from the Debbie Mumm Snowflake pattern. Goodwill auction.
The charger was made in turkey, I don't remember the maker, bought at The Home Store.
The bear is a Volunteers of America purchase (he is the baby bear from a set of three bears).
Snowman was a Marc's purchase several years ago. Cabbage pot planter was from Goodwill.
More Marc's snowmen.
Flatware is by Argent bought at a Tuesday Morning sidewalk sale. Snowflake wine glasses, tablecloth, napkins, napkin rings, ornament tree, cobalt side dishes, and clear side dishes were all thrift store purchases.
Have a wonderful evening.
Thrift on ladies, thrift on!

Now I'll be singing that all day. Each day you are giving me another favorite song to sing. I love all the snowflakey things - everything is just so sweet. I wish there was a video of you setting this all up - it would be very interesting.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many snowy pieces to complement this theme. Beautiful and of course, I'll have that song as an ear worm all day.
ReplyDeleteCharming snowflake dishes! This is a beautiful table. Singing along as I scroll down. '-)
ReplyDeleteI love the color combination that you've used. Very much Christmas but just a little different.
ReplyDeleteI love your theme! Beautiful snowflake dishes, too. I enjoyed your story about the toes emails. Wish I could be a fly on the wall when your friends receive your snow email. So fun! I enjoyed your sing-along post very much!
