Copycat Table of BNOTP Christmas Nature Theme

Susan at Between Naps on The Porch did a Christmas Tablescape Inspired by Nature Themed Dishware back in November.  I was enamored by the sweet nature themed salad plates.  After many trips to Walmart to find these little charmers I finally found 6 matching plates that will be given away as a Christmas gift  after I use them for this post of course.  I had found one of the bunny plates and one of the cardinal plates before I finally found six of the winter homestead plates. When Cuisine Kathleen issued the challenge for a copycat tablescape, Susan's table was the first tablescape that came to mind. Mind you, there many of the lovely elements that I simply did not have.  But I tried to improvise as I went along.
Christmas Table Setting Tablescape with Plaid Dishware and Pierced Chargers
Susan's beautiful table was perfect for inspiration for a copycat table.

First I removed the glass from my round black table and put a white lace tablecloth underneath to try and keep a closer imitation of Susan's lovely wicker table and replaced the glass top.  Unfortunately I could not make the table larger,  but I made do.
Then I took the only small green tree that I have and put it on a pedestal cake stand.  I added an old wreath underneath the tree to make it appear a little larger.
I placed a plaid tablecloth around the base similar to the one susan used.  I placed a couple of birds nests and some tiny plaid decorations to the tree.
I placed my lacy charger plates around the table.
I added a cute little bunny.
Then I added a few woodland creatures.
I placed my Walmart nature themed dishes on the chargers.

I do not have any twig flatware so I used plain black flatware instead.  I placed a tartan ornament on each plate.

I also improvised for the napkins by using a green napkin and my Lenox napkin rings with a twig slid under the ring.
Not a carbon copy, but still very cute.

Have a wonderful week!

  1. Wow! I didn't try to duplicate my table as closely as I'm noticing others have done. You really made the ultimate effort (fabric under glass!), and it shows.

Wish I had those beautiful chargers. They go with everything - casual and formal.

    Well done!

    1. I saw that beautiful village that you did. You really did keep the essence of Susan's table beautifully. I keep going back and looking at your village table over and over again. I loved it and the video was perfect.

    1. I found the tartan plates on Ebay after Christmas last year. Very reasonable too. Shhhh don't tell anyone but they are really factory seconds but the blemish is almost unnoticeable.

  22. Candy,

THANK YOU for putting in such an effort each and every time in creating such beautiful and inspiring table settings and vignettes! For someone like me, who is not able to be close to their family and in their hometown, (being Toronto), these little gatherings of pretty plates, tablecloths, and complementary accessories, really bring the holidays closer to my heart.

Love your sweet winter scene plates!

    Take care and Merry Christmas!

  23. I would love to know where you got the plates with the Christmas scene. Beautiful table setting. Our dining room is not big enough for us all so I don't "set" the table. With all the food dishes on there, its impossible to set places. The men usually watch a football game and the women set and chat at the table with the kids. Sigh........that would not be my choice but its my life style I am afraid. So I go with the flow. I can't see it changing now. So when I decorate the house I am doing it for me really. No one else seems to notice. I love your home and decorating.

  26. Beautiful table! I, along with so many, headed to our local Wal-Mart after seeing BNOTP's tablescape above. Still only found two(2) of the barn scene plates; maybe they'll bring them back for Christmas 2014. ;-) Please tell me where you found the white chargers. Thank you.

    1. I found several more of the reticulated chargers on Ebay before Christmas 2014. Not real cheap but not as pricy as Horchow either.
