It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

There are 25 Days Till Christmas - Diary of a Christmas countdown
Black Friday November 29th, 2013

When I had gotten out of my car at the local our Marc's store I was singing  "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas"  to myself. I had not seen anyone nearby so I was singing a bit louder than I normally would out in public. When I approached the door to the store an elderly woman came up beside me and with a big smile on her face as she stopped there right in the doorway to tell me how much she loved my song.  Happiness is so contagious, when you smile and carry a song in your heart the people around you will smile and maybe they will pass the smile on their face on to someone else.

The lyrics written by Meridith Wilson (as found on the internet)
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Bing Crosby sang this song in the movie White Christmas.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go

Take a look in the five and ten glistening once again
with candy canes and silver lanes aglow.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
(Christmas)
Toys in every store

But the prettiest sight to see
Is the holly that will be
On your own front door

A pair of hop along boots and a pistol that shoots
Is the wish of Barney and Ben

Dolls that will talk and will go for a walk
Is the hope of Janice and Jen
And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again.

(It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas)
(Everywhere you go)

There's a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well,
The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow.

(It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas)
Soon the bells will start

And the thing that will make them ring
Is the carol that you will sing right within your
heart

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Toys in every store
But the prettiest sight to see is the holly
that will be
On your own front door
Sure it's Christmas once more

Enjoy the Holidays!!!

All of the pumpkin tureens that the daisies were in are now all packed away. The daisies have been replanted into Christmas mugs for the holidays.  The silver ornament tree was a Goodwill purchase a while back.  The chairs have been recovered by stapling material from a tablecloth that I had bought at Goodwill to the seats.  The chairs look very festive now.

The Marc's  snowman plate is stacked onto a Paula Dean Whitaker plate.  The flatware came from the World Market last year at an after Christmas sale. The red placemats are a  Joan Green design that was bought at the Goodwill store,  It still had the tags on it!
The Marc's stores here in Ohio are packed with huge quantities of Christmas accents for the home
I can't walk into one those stores without coming out with a bag of holiday goodies.
The Living room and dining room are loaded up with holiday decor from Marc's and from thrift stores like Goodwill, Volunteers of America, and the Salvation Army.
I have so many Christmas holiday plates and tons of dinnerware, silverware, and wine glasses (as you can see stacked in the cabinets behind the table) that I have bought over the past forty something years,  and I also have so many Christmas songs in my heart that I have sung over the past sixty something years. I'm just saying,  it seems to me that I have a set of Christmas dishes for every Christmas song I know.

That could mean something, don't you think?

Happy Holidays!

  1. OMG sweet Cindy, you are ready girl friend! Everything is gorgeous, you have adorable and beaqutiful C'mas elements, each one is a treasure...and your tablescape with those plaqtes are to die for! My tree also fell on my head around 10 years ago and I too lost lots of lovely ornaments, specially the cristal and ceramic ones, but I still have amny to remember my loved ones that are gone now. I guess we all have so much stuff collected thru so many years of marriage, but great, I just gave some lovely ornaments from my Mil to my daughters.
Hope you had a wonderful Tksging Day.

  2. I love allllllllll of the pictures - it was so much fun exploring. I'm glad you were singing - that just makes things so much nicer - and I love the table setting that goes so well with the song. We are slowly beginning some decorating for christmas - the autumn things (few that they are) are all packed up and waiting for next year. I am so jealous - wish we had a Marc's.

  3. I was singing along with your post. :)

I am trying to avoid stores for the month of December. So much safer to look at lovely pictures on blogs.

  4. Fabulous, Candy! I love all of your dishes and cute little snowmen and all of it. I have that same flatware, but our WM put them on sale before Christmas Eve, so I was able to use them for our family dinner. I can see you are rather whimsical in your Christmas decor, and so am I, at least in my kitchen, breakfast and family rooms. I think it's an inner-child thing!
