Over the last three or four years I have been drooling over the tablescaping posts that I have found on sites like Between Naps on the Porch, The Tablescaper, Cuisine Kathleen, Nancy's Daily Dish and many others. I was not only looking at the fabulous tablescapes but also the lovely furnishings of all of the different dining rooms and kitchens. Over the years I had developed an acute case of china cabinet envy. For the last couple of years I had combed through craigslist for two matching china cabinets (that I could afford) to display my wine glasses. I had been looking for two plain squared cabinets about 36 inches wide. I wanted to place them on either side of the small sideboard and the black shelves that I had painted (I also rebuilt the shelves) several years ago. Last week I finally bought two matching display cabinets from craigslist. Well they are not plain and they aren't 36 inches wide, but they are pretty. The picture below is of my tablescape from last week.
Before
The following picture is of my new tablescape for this week with the new china cabinets set in place in the dining room.
After
I had already finished putting together this weeks tablescape before the cabinets were in place. As you can see the walls look really bare in this before picture.
The shelves have not been filled with my wine glasses yet, but they soon will be.
The room seems to have taken on a warm glow that is enhancing the fall tablescape. Or it could be that my son Richard has taken some beautiful pictures that capture the warmth that was always there.
The cute little acorn salt and pepper shakers look right at home in this setting.
The pheasant and vase are also thrift store finds.
The brown leaf candle is from Marc's, the Amish print is from a resale shop, and candle holder came from a thrift store.
The top charger is called Rafia from Luminarc, I bought them last year from Ebay. The brown charger on the bottom came from Walmart.
The other pheasants, partridges, and Amish prints are thrift store finds too.
One last picture of the whole tablescape. There is certainly a lot of fall warmth and color. Whether it is the golden tablecloth, the warm wood tones, or my son's pictures, it does say fall to me.
Thank you to my son Richard for taking so many of the beautiful pictures for this post.

ReplyDeleteHi Candy,
ReplyDeleteYour pheasant table is so pretty and just perfect for the Thanksgiving season!! You scored a great find with your matching china cabinets; you'll have SO much fun filling those up with pretty things. I'm so thankful to have my china cabinet for storing and displaying my goodies. :) I've been looking for some pretty pheasants for my table for a few years now, but no luck so far. The ones I've seen online are either not the right style, or way out of my price range. I'll have to check the thrift stores next chance I get.
Thank you very much for your visit and your sweet comments about our MacDuff. We miss him very much! I appreciate your previous visits; I've tried to contact you via e-mail, but couldn't find one listed on your blog. I'm your newest follower -- I hope you have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteCandy,
ReplyDeleteWhat an impressive tablescape! Your new cabinets were the CLINCHER! They changed the substance of the room and gave it a foundation, I think. I also love your charming display of prints, pheasants and candles on the two thick shelves, beautiful! The room is aglow with warmth and elegance. Thanks for sharing!
