I had to laugh about your cake. It sounds like my kind of cooking-always trying to repair something that didn't turn out right. I bet it was delicious though. I remember those pilgrims from last year. I really like those, and your foliage down the table is beautiful. That aqua glass in your cabinet is gorgeous! I love the way the color pops against the plates and cabinet. laurieBargain Decorating with Lauriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13582640485560903639noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761829894985740256.post-63243074637097964112014-11-20T14:16:17.490-08:002014-11-20T14:16:17.490-08:00So sorry to hear about your sweet cat. It was the first flatware I ever purchased as a newlywed! I've long since gotten rid of both the flatware AND the husband, but at least I have fond memories of one of them. Guess which? ;-)

I'm so sorry to read that your cat died. I know that has to be really, really tough. I am so, so sorry.

Lucky you to have new flooring on the horizon. I'd give anything to be in that same position. I HATE the carpet that's in our house!!! I have often threatened to "accidentally" spill a big ol' can of red oil-based paint on it...in every room!!!

As for your cake, it's the taste that counts, right? I'm not all that creative when it comes to fancy cakes. and rarely do mine turn out looking magazine-worthy. You gave it your best shot, didn't burn down the house, and it still tasted good...I'd say all things considered you did pretty darn good! :-)Alycia Nicholshttp://tabletwentyone.wordpress.com/2014/11/17/tartan-on-the-tee-a-creekmoor-christmas/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761829894985740256.post-49349824783745843582014-11-17T06:49:24.682-08:002014-11-17T06:49:24.682-08:00Hi Candy,

My husband kept telling everyone that she was my baby and eventually we just called her Baby. That is such a coincidence. I don't know what happened to them, but I did get her "every day dishes" - Franciscan Desert Rose, so I can't complain. I love how the flatware and the glasses coordinated - and the napkins are darling.

Your cake looks wonderful - I suppose what happened was that you cooked your frosting too long? It was a cooked frosting wasn't it? If not - I have no clue - but it looks tasty and the nuts on top are the perfect touch. I would like to make one of those pumpkin shaped cakes sometime though - that would be fun. I think that the manufacturers of such pan have a kitchen full of professional chefs and it might take many tries to get the cake to come out righ - I'd like to see their failures - probably a lot - but the pan is cute. You could use the same pan and decorate it differently and make it into a great big christmas ornament too. Maybe some peppermint on the top and swirlies all around to look like an ornament.

The cabinet looks very wintery - I have those same turquoise bowls. I used to have a set of them in pink with the serving bowl too - wonder where they went.JoAnn ( Scene Through My Eyes)https://www.blogger.com/profile/12621061028973446378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3761829894985740256.post-79952570897834242112014-11-15T19:25:14.976-08:002014-11-15T19:25:14.976-08:00Candy, I'd like a piece of your cake...it look...Candy, I'd like a piece of your cake...it looks delicious...if you hadn't told us you hacked the bottom, we would never have known!
Awesome vintage table...the flatware is great.
